Word for year 2019 : Consistent

Yesterday I chanced upon this tweet thread ( partial pic below) that gave a challenge to just start something and keep at it, without thought for anything much outside it.

I had already decided last week to do 300 posts in 2019 , just to get back to my blogging and write all the book review posts I have been so lazy to do in 2018.

[ the real inspiration behind that thought is Saurabh and all the wonderful ideas he has shared in his emails over that last 2 months. ]

Plus like previous 4 years, my fitness goals stay same ( since they are never fulfilled in year gone by) .

So for all this , I really need to be consistent, even if not good in the beginning, if I want to see any result at all.

It certainly wont be easy, but then, there is not much joy in way things are right now for me.

So I pledge I will be consistent in ( in mentioned order )

  • Writing/ blogging
  • Exercise
  • Reading better not more

Whats your word for 2019 ?

Rise beyond routine

While Hawkings toiled
on his ideas about time,
going back and forth
on is own thesis,
all theories need
not be believed,
but proved;he opined.
I wonder at existence,
perseverance
and the magnanimous
personality one must have
to rise beyond daily
routine and pettiness.
Greatness comes with price,
to be focused always
on the goal unknown,
tracing just the path
as and when it shows,
like a wingless flight.
I marvel at dedication
of people who become legends,
and wish their spirits
would bless me similar,
May I never lose hope
no matter where and how I end.

I watched the movie “Theory of everything” today. And over the weekend, I also watched the Dhoni movie. While watching both , the one thought that resonated all through me was the dedication and never to give up. We stray so easily from our own goals, its not even worth boasting. But this weekend , I decided to put some of the thoughts into action and see where my dreams lead me. Since the birthday month also started, I plan to begin the change process right from today. Hope the next year makes me really wiser with age 😉

What matters ?

“No melodramatic Monday morning wish this week ?”, he asked me , sounding shocked.

I send these Monday morning messages to some of my friends every week. Though he is never the recipient of those , he does check my phone to read the message I know.

“It does not make a difference to anyone”I responded lightheartedly , trying best to hide my disappointment of my own statement.

“It matters to many. It matters to me the most to know you have not given up on doing something so good and positive in life” , he replied , looking kindly into my eyes that a minute before were full of doubt.

Writing ideas and reading mojo

About 5 years back when I was active on this blog , I remember meeting some wonderful poets and reading / collaborating with a random people. To read , comment , react and bond with a community of bloggers was a norm in my day. And then I had to shut my blog for some months , returned months after  I got married, tried to write this and that but some where I had lost so many bonds and the inspiration to blog like I used to. Life took me down so many paths that there was not enough pause to reflect and write. Or perhaps not writing about my days made them feel so much more heavy .

So many of the prompt sites that helped me grow as a blogger and poet have closed and the new ones are just off the radar. It is not the prompts that I lack but more so the interactions and the takes on same theme that I sorely miss these days. The free banter and the challenges were amazing fuel to my lazy mind.Even after trying again and again to revive the same spirit , I feel this space still lack the life and love it once survived on. Is it just me or are you all feeling that gradual recess of visits and talks that were once the reason for so many fun moments and friendships !
Thankfully , some of my friends are blogging along me till end of 2016 and so , I am also getting into habit of reading blogs. I plan to dedicate weekends to visit old blogs and see how they are  today. I hope you all are writing still and  feeling great in general. If you know of good weekly / daily writing prompts , do share the link with me. What new is happening in the world of blogs ? What have I missed upon ? Hit me the new trends and ways people ! I will be so grateful !
Love.

Just a memory

To never stop loving ❤

Just a memory,
she convinced her lover
the latest one,
as she came back to him,
his smell,his touch,
her own senses still locked
in a far away thought,
of another time,
another lost smile
as she stood alone
and mourned the death
of first innocent love,
of mushy words
that she actually meant,
not just then..

But now it is,
just a memory
she convinces herself.

I never knew

“This is what I learned: that everybody is talented, original and has something important to say.”
– Brenda Ueland

Never knew when I put to use,
this thought i read
and its a wonder
I remembered too.
Asked him to write
and care not for reaction
had a faint feeling,
his words must be freed
and let take flight,
that ideas he never had
must some day see light,
and I see him today
miles ahead
spinning magic
and reality alike
with the same pen,
he never knew he had.

Dedicated to a dear friend and one of my fav blogger off late 🙂

Prompted @ November PAD day#2 :

For today’s prompt, use an epigraph to kickstart your poem. That is, use a quotation. You can use a favorite of your own, or if you’re having trouble thinking of one, I’ve provided a few below. To format an epigraph poem, a poet places the quotation between the title and the body of the poem, while also giving credit to the source of the quotation.
